neutralize bad cholesterol

http://www.realage.com/tips/neutralize-ldl-with-this-party-snack

I get emails from realage regularly, and don't usually read them, but this one is particularly good.

Almonds are even more amazing than what I originally believed.

I have been eating gluten regularly for over a month now. This gluten does not contain any MSG or soy or preservatives, though. It is homemade.
I have also been making a large effort to eat very little foods that contain MSG.
I don't feel weighed down by what I am eating right now, so it must be that when they combine MSG (or when MSG is created in processing) with normally healthy foods, it turns into something bad all around.

xlicea.com is gone now.
I did not renew the domain name.

Baby portobello mushrooms do not have vitamin D, but adult portobello mushrooms do.

msg..

When I went on the GF/CF diet, I thought that they were the cause of me to feel "dumbed down" and so stressed...
But I'm beginning to believe that it was the monosodium glutamate. Perhaps the combo of the two or three is worse, but MSG alone can cause me to be unable to think clearly and process information in a timely fashion.

To combat MSG and my still slight addiction to it, I soak in epsom salt at least once a day, I have started drinking a minimum of one Synergy drink (Kombucha tea) each day (if you drink one full bottle it has 40% of your DV for vitamin B6 (among many, many other things) and this helps deplete the MSG). I believe that soaking in ES helps replenish my body with any magnesium that the MSG depleted.

I still feel certain that one day I'll be able to organize all of my thoughts about this stuff enough to have the information placed, in an organized fashion, on a website. We shall see.

honey & food coloring.

I recently learned that honey contains b-vitamins, magnesium, and calcium.

And then, last night I read about FD & C Yellow No. 5 & Red No. 3.
They're both made from coal tar.

magnesium and my current diet

http://www.ithyroid.com/magnesium.htm
It's always good to find more information on magnesium. It opens up new doors.

I recently discovered a store in Gadsden that sells gluten-free products. They also sell organic dairy products.. etc.
Upon obtaining a place of workage, my dietary habits that were working so well (esp gluten-free) eventually went away, due to extreme hunger issues. When I started eating gluten again, even if it was just once a day, I didn't notice an extreme affect on my moods in the way that I noticed it when I first went on the diet. Over time, though, I know that the gluten built up inside of me (this is between now and Jan. 26), because I went through a period of being unable to eat very much at one time, or in one day..
I realize that I'm only under the stress that gluten causes within me, not stress that is actually really there. (does gluten=stress?)

good stuff.

I figured out recently that the main b-vitamin that I am low on is B2. You need that vitamin to help make all the other b-vitamins you intake work.. or something. Anyway, so recently I had a strong craving for asparagus and it is a relatively good source of b2. the other good choices that i have are venison and eventually, I will buy more crimini mushrooms.
bread is the normal person's main source of b2, so it makes sense that i'd have difficulty getting it. spinach has some b2 in it, too.

I read an article on msn that says that music may be able to help those with alzheimer's and via that page I went to "10 surprising things that affect your memory".... - "Of 700 elderly Indonesians, those who ate tofu at least once a day had an increased risk of dementia or memory loss, particularly if they were over age 65. Researchers believe the link might be due to soy products' phytoestrogens, which may offer some neural benefits to the middle-aged and young but could harm those over 65."

PROOF THAT SOY IS NOT A GOOD THING TO EAT. i hate the phytoestrogens in soy.

green beans.

taken from the entry for green beans on whfoods.com:

"Green beans are a good source of riboflavin, which has been shown to help reduce the frequency of migraine attacks in people who suffer from them. Riboflavin's protective role in energy production may explain why. The oxygen-containing molecules the body uses to produce energy can be highly reactive and can inadvertently cause damage the mitochondria and even the cells themselves. In the mitochondria, such damage is largely prevented by a small, protein-like molecule called glutathione. Like many "antioxidant" molecules, glutathione must be constantly recycled, and it is vitamin B2 that allows this recycling to take place. (Technically, vitamin B2 is a cofactor for the enzyme glutathione reductase that reduces the oxidized form of glutathione back to its reduced version.) A cup of green beans supplies 7.1% of the DV for riboflavin."

I remember learning about mitochondria when I was in high school.

misc

I was reading about manganese on whfoods a few minutes ago. Most of the manganese in our body can be found in our bones.

on a slightly unrelated note: http://green.msn.com/Home/you-can-recycle-that/?gt1=45002
YOU CAN RECYCLE STYROFOAM!

this is terribly interesting... Apparently, EU will not consume beef from the u.s. that has hormones... and so, the U.S. retaliated. such insanity.

potassium.

taken from http://whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=7

"In addition to these cardiovascular benefits, the potassium found in bananas may also help to promote bone health. Potassium may counteract the increased urinary calcium loss caused by the high-salt diets typical of most Americans, thus helping to prevent bones from thinning out at a fast rate. "

so...high salt diets can cause your bones to thin out at a fast rate.

How is potassium depleted?

Sage and Monosodium Glutamate and their effects on your memory.

http://www.answers.com/topic/memory-loss-1

I had been quite suspicious of MSG for quite sometime... According to that second link I posted, MSG does cause memory loss.
Under dietary guidelines it says: "Avoid eating foods that contain such additives as artificial sweeteners, monosodium glutamate (MSG), preservatives, and artificial colors. These chemicals can accumulate in the body and become toxic, causing brain damage and memory loss."

p.s. vitamin b6 is a natural diuretic.
so if you eat a lot of foods containing b6 and you feel as if you have trouble staying hydrated... this could be one possible explanation.
